While nurses around the world deserve recognition throughout the year for the lifesaving work they do, there is a particular day set aside to honour them – International Nurses Day, which falls on 12 May, the birthdate of Florence Nightingale. In 2020, this day has particular significance for all of us as the world grapples with the COVID-19 pandemic, and nurses and other healthcare professionals work on the frontline in the fight against this disease.

While this pandemic has been a stressful and worrying time for all of us, it’s undoubtedly taken the heaviest physical and emotional toll on healthcare workers.
